Based in Airdrie, coverage everywhere
Compressed air is often called the fourth utility in manufacturing. When your compressor fails, production stops. Regular, professionally-executed maintenance is the difference between planned downtime that costs nothing and unplanned breakdowns that can cost thousands of pounds per hour.
Design Air (Scotland) offers service plans to suit different budgets and uptime requirements. From straightforward scheduled maintenance to premium contracts that include emergency hire cover, oil analysis, and annual energy audits — we take full ownership of your compressed air system health.

All plans include our dipCAM-qualified engineers and genuine parts. Choose the level of coverage that matches your uptime requirements.
Essential planned maintenance with emergency cover. Ideal for single-compressor sites with moderate production dependency.
Everything in Standard, plus proactive health monitoring on every visit to catch problems before they become failures.
Complete peace of mind. Includes everything in Pro-Active plus emergency hire, leak detection, and energy audit — total system ownership.
We service Atlas Copco, Ingersoll Rand, CompAir, Boge, Kaeser, Quincy, and all other major brands — not just the compressors we supply.
Every engineer on our service team holds dipCAM accreditation — the compressed air engineering benchmark. We don't use unqualified sub-contractors.
We use genuine OEM parts on Atlas Copco equipment and premium-quality alternatives on other brands — never cheap imitations that compromise performance.
We work around your production schedule. Early mornings, evenings, and weekends are available to minimise disruption to your operations.
Every service visit includes a check of system efficiency. Small adjustments at service time often lead to measurable reductions in electricity consumption.
All service visits include paperwork aligned with PSSR 2000 requirements. We can also manage your written scheme of examination and statutory inspection regime.
Based in Airdrie, our engineers cover the length and breadth of Scotland — from the Central Belt industrial heartland to Highland distilleries and Island sites via mainland transfer.
Our 4-hour guaranteed emergency response applies across our full service area. No remote surcharges, no excuses.

Service frequency depends on compressor type, running hours, operating environment, and manufacturer recommendations. As a general guide, heavily-used industrial units in dusty or high-temperature environments need quarterly checks. Standard factory installations typically require annual or bi-annual servicing. Our engineers will assess your specific setup and recommend the right interval at no cost.
Yes. Our dipCAM-qualified engineers service all major brands including Ingersoll Rand, CompAir, Boge, Kaeser, Gardner Denver, Quincy, and others. Being multi-brand specialists means you are not locked in to a single manufacturer for your ongoing service needs.
Absolutely. We understand that scheduled downtime costs money. Early starts, late finishes, and weekend servicing are available to minimise production disruption. This is particularly common for food and pharmaceutical sites where continuous production is critical.
A routine service replaces filters, oils, belts, and consumables at manufacturer-specified intervals to prevent failure. A full overhaul is a more extensive disassembly, inspection, and refurbishment of internal components — airends, bearings, seals — typically carried out every 8,000-16,000 running hours depending on the machine. We will recommend which applies based on your equipment's condition and hours.
The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR 2000) require operators of compressed air systems above 250 bar-litres to have a written scheme of examination and undergo periodic statutory inspections by a competent person. Failure to comply is a criminal offence and invalidates your insurance. Design Air can manage your written scheme and statutory inspection schedule as part of a service contract.
For planned routine maintenance, yes — the compressor needs to be isolated safely. However, on multi-compressor sites it is often possible to sequence servicing so that production continues on reduced capacity. Our engineers will plan the most efficient approach with your production manager before any visit begins.
Tell us your compressor make, model, and running hours and we will recommend the right service plan — and give you a fixed price with no surprises.
